Wine tasting is more an art

Wine tasting is more an art than an opportunity to drink wine. Infact wine tasting does not mean drinking wine. Infact on many an occasion you will find that at wine tasting occasions and opportunities, you are not allowed to gulp down the wine. You are made take a sip, twirl it around the mouth and then actually spit it out, and no, that is not a waste of fine wine, it is the way wine tasting happens!

The first step in wine tasting is actually looking at the wine in its glass / bottle and ensuring that it is a deep rich color or is clear and translucent, as the case may be. Try and ensure that if the wine in the bottle or in the wine glass is sediment free and that the glass is spotlessly clean. The next step is to bring you near the wine warehouse and to smell the wine and breathe in its aromas and flavors.

After that you can actually take a sip of the wine that you have appreciated. Twirl the wine in your mouth and taste it. Try and identify the flavors and appreciate its flavors. See how the wine feels against your tongue and cheeks. Then, unfortunately, as the last step in the delightful tasting process, spit the wine out in single jet through pursed lips and after that on a rating card, rate the wine you tasted on several counts like color, taste, sweetness, monetary value etc.

Based on the wines you have tasted you can usually buy a bottle or even order a case of wine from the wine clubs. Most of the wine tasting centers also have online stores from where you can order your wine, at wholesale rates, all from the comfort of your home!
