The Russian state space corporation, Roscosmos, during a meeting with Indian delegation on Friday, made a proposal for the participation of Russian specialists in the selection and training of Indian astronauts for a spaceflight, a source in the rocket and space industry told Sputnik. Joint projects, sharing of expertise and resources, development of space systems and components, exchange of scientists, training and scientific and technical meetings are listed out as the forms of cooperation. India had earlier announced plans to send a national crew into orbit in 2022. Five years. The private sector has been a force multiplier when it comes to amplifying the efforts of space agencies, and this has been a theme over the last few years. The news of Juno was thus a reminder as much of our personal journey as it was of how our species moved one step closer to knowing more about this universe that we live in, starting with the biggest planet in our neighbourhood. Missions like Juno are reminders to find time to look up, join hands and never stop being curious.Five years. The only reason why we have come this far is the knowledge and ecosystem created by ISRO. It was Lockheed Martin. Now, we are nearly a 100 people working on becoming the first privately funded mission to the moon and only the fourth entity to touch down on the moon after three nations - United States, USSR, and China. Juno, on the other hand, is indicative of the power of a different kind of collaboration.. That is how long it took Juno to reach Jupiter after its launch from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station on August 5, 2011. Five years ago, the team at TeamIndus could be counted on the fingers of one hand, and we were still grappling with the enormity of what we had signed up for. These cameras will equip sensors designed to aid the rover's progress by detecting ground obstacles in the path of its wheels. They have literally put the Indian space program together with their hands. Research into space and the technologies that it spawns have been at the heart of several leaps mankind has taken over the years -- whether in computing, material science, communications or medicine. Those critical of India investing in space have often cynically questioned whether running a space program in a country where millions go hungry was a result of misplaced priorities. But for us at TeamIndus, Juno and its reaching an orbit around Jupiter, brought home a couple of things that are catalysing space exploration back on earth. Nurturing a culture of what I call Collaborative Space can make sure that the impact of the investment that goes into space is multiplied -- not to mention that private firms are naturally inclined to be as lean as possible and make space and aerospace technology itself more affordable. Indeed, in many of our cities, it has become difficult to see through the thick envelope of pollution -- both of the smoke variety and of light. SpaceX and BlueOrigin are among a new crop of enterprises -- dubbed NewSpace companies -- working on slashing the cost of space launches by landing the first stages of rockets back on earth. It wasn't Nasa that built the spacecraft. Nas, Jaxa, Canadian Space Agency, European Space Agency, Roscosmos have together created this lone outpost of humanity beyond the surface of earth. These are people who had joined the space agency as it was being conceived. The Centre National d'études Spatiale or CNES, the French space agency, recently signed an agreement to equip the TeamIndus MoonRover with the CASPEX micro-cameras that they have developed with French firm 3D Plus. That is how long it took Juno to reach Jupiter after its launch from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station on August 5, 2011. Things have changed during the course of Juno's flight. We at TeamIndus are delighted to do our own bit in this environment of co-operation. But when adulthood catches up, many of us stop taking the time out to marvel at the magnificence of what lies beyond. The emergence of SpaceX is expected to free Nasa to more efficiently channelise its resources into missions that move humanity forward, than be caught up in the logistics of replenishing supplies of the International Space Station. The International Space Station - ISS -- is a fantastic example of what happens when space agencies across continents come together. As children growing up, all of us look up in wonder at the night sky and keep gawking at stars. This is true of India, too, which has what is probably one of the most people-focused space programs in the world

This will be the first time ISRO will launch a space craft, which actually has delta wings. The Russians made only a single space shuttle and called it Buran it flew into space just once in 1989.After that the French and Japanese have made some experimental flights and from available literature it seems the Chinese have never attempted a space shuttle.Very soon and if all goes well possibly before the monsoon sets in, India's space port at Sriharikota on the coast of the Bay of Bengal in Andhra Pradesh will witness the launch of the indigenously made Reusable Launch Vehicle - Technology Demonstrator (RLV-TD). Bezos, another billionaire, made it big by building the Amazon online trading platform. K Sivan, director of the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, Thiruvananthapuram, says, "These are just the first baby steps towards the big Hanuman leap. SpaceX is a company owned by South Africa-born billionaire Elon Musk which became big through the Internet economy and has been able to land its Falcon-9 rocket onto a sea-based platform.The making of the Indian space shuttle or RLV-TD has taken 5 years and the government has invested Rs 95 crore in the project.Some private billionaires with very active support from NASA have been trying to master vertical lift-off and vertical landing as part of trying to recycle rocket engines.In fact NASA chief General Charles Bolden, when he was in New Delhi recently, said the competition has shifted to a fight among billionaires to reduce the cost of launching satellites into space. The special booster or the first stage is powered using a solid fuel and it will hoist the RLV-TD experiment to about 70 km into the atmosphere from where the descent will begin. India embarked on making its own version of the space shuttle by thinking about it more than 15 years ago, but work in earnest it seems started only five years ago when a dedicated team of engineers and scientists plunged into making RLV-TD a reality.During the descent, phase which is essentially a glider like event small thrusters will help the vehicle to be navigated on to the exact spot where it is supposed to land.75 tons and will be hoisted into the atmosphere on a special rocket booster. Today, a sleek winged body almost the weight and size of a sports utility vehicle (SUV) is being given final touches at Sriharikota awaiting the final countdown.Ships, satellites and radars will monitor its descent.Scientists at ISRO believe that they could reduce the cost of launching stuff into space by as much as 10 times if reusable technology succeeds, bringing it down to USD 2,000 per kg. The purpose of the experiment is not to see it float but to glide and navigate from a velocity five times higher than the speed of sound onto a designated virtual runway in the Bay of Bengal some 500 km from the coast.The RLV-TD is unlikely to be recovered from sea during this experiment as it is expected that the vehicle will disintegrate on impact with water since it is not designed to float.This will be the first time ISRO will launch a space craft, which actually has delta wings and after launch it will be glided back onto a virtual runway in the Bay of Bengal.The Indian space agency is all set to undertake the maiden launch of its very own indigenous version of a 'space shuttle', a fully made-in-India effort.
