New Delhi: The countrys capital will make a comeback in the Republic Day parade after three years with its tableau managing to secure a place after passing through the competitive selection process."Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna will be the theme of the tableau of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation."A total of 23 tableaux would participate in the parade, with 17 of them belonging to states and the union territories.According to the Defence Ministry officials, the tableau by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship is based on the theme of Transforming India through Skill development, while that of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises will be based on Khadi and Village Industries Commission. This year it has been selected," a Defence Ministry official said.

As last year, the parade will see participation of 23 tableaux of which 17 are from states and UTs. Its tableau, which will portray it as an unexplored tourist destination, is getting ready to pass through the Rajpath after 23 years. In the financial budget of 2015-16 Mhada set Rs 755 crore for the construction of 3,000 affordable homes in Konkan and Mumbai. The other is when we plan to implement projects by acquiring land, we have to face many hurdles from clearances for rehabilitating landowners who give up their land for construction,” said a senior Mhada official.

There are various reasons behind Mhada not being able to efficiently utilise the funds and one reason has to be the slowdown in the real estate sector. The Mhada, in its upcoming budget of 2016-17, will allocate Rs 2,500 crore for the construction of 2,500 affordable homes, which will also include homes under the PMAY.” Another reason for Mhada not spending much on construction of houses could be because the state economic survey indicating that it had constructed merely 772 units from April 2015 to December 2015, which is its worst record in the last five years.

Land of around 400 hectares is mainly in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and we still are awaiting approvals from the land department of various urban local bodies of the MMR region,” the Mhada official added.Apart from it, Mhada had allocated Rs 25 crore under the Prime Minister’s housing scheme, which also has not been touched due to the state government, and is still finalising how the newly launched Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) would be implemented in different parts of the state. “We could spend around Rs 1,000 crore overall and out of that too around Rs 200 crore was spent on the administrative work of the Mhada, which also includes salaries of employees.

Mr Musharraf flew to Dubai in March for purported medical treatment after the Supreme Court lifted the ban on his foreign trips and it is believed that he may never return to face a slew of several high-profile cases against him.

Mr Musharraf came to power in a bloodless coup in 1999, deposing then-Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. However DHA has remained silent over a bungalow in Army Housing Scheme which is considered one of the main properties of the former military dictator.The DHA confirmed three bungalows were named after the 72-year-old former President, who is currently said to be in Dubai for purported medical treatment. Also, a media report said on Tuesday that Mr Musharraf owned more properties under defence housing schemes than previously thought.The DHA wrote a letter to the district and session court confirming their presence, Geo News reported on Tuesday.District judge South (Karachi) Nazir Amin Memon had initiated action based on the special court judge’s ruling on July 19, in which the court had ordered freezing of Mr Musharraf’s assets and properties.

"By assigning priority to affordable housing it would make available land parcels of sick and loss making CPSEs under closure for the government flagship programme of affordable housing being managed by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs," the statement said. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi here."These guidelines provide a broad framework for expeditious completion of various processes and procedures for closure of CPSEs by laying down important milestones in the closure process along with time-lines, outlining the responsibilities of the concerned Ministries/ Departments/ CPSE, etc, in the process," an official statement said.

As per the new norms, the government has laid down a uniform policy to give workers VRS at 2007 notional pay scale irrespective of the pay scale in which they are working.New Delhi: The government on Wednesday approved revised guidelines on time bound closure of sick and loss making central public sector enterprises and disposal of their movable and immovable assets.The guidelines accord first priority for utilisation of available land parcels of CPSEs under closure for affordable housing as per the relevant guidelines of Ministry of Housing and custom-made filter housing suppliers Urban Affairs.

The guidelines also provide for advance preparatory action to be taken by administrative ministry or department and CPSEs, preparation of closure proposal, settlement of statutory and other liabilities of the CPSE and modalities for disposal of movable and immovable assets of such CPSEs in a time bound manner.. The new norms will replace the guidelines issued by the Department of Public Enterprises in September, 2016.The guidelines shall apply to all sick and loss making CPSEs where approval or in principle approval for closure has been obtained by the administrative ministry or department from the Cabinet Committee of Economic Affairs or Cabinet; or the process for obtaining the approval of the competent authority is underway after the administrative ministry or department has decided for the closure of the CPSE.

The move is expected to reduce delays in implementation of closure plans for loss making PSUs."Since there are employees working in these CPSEs, Government decided that closure should not cause hardship to them and has now laid down a uniform policy to give workers VRS (voluntary retirement scheme) at 2007 notional pay scale irrespective of the pay scale in which they are working," the statement said.

This will not only help in emergency situations but patients can also be brought here from abroad for treatment.

It is learnt that MCHI – CREDAI is one of the private players that has signed an MoU for housing. We are confident that four to five lakh affordable houses can be built with participation from private players,” he said. “We have just approved our retail policy and received tremendous response to it. The CM has also signed a few MoUs with companies in retail and housing and claimed investment of Rs 800,000 crore thus far.
